A beautifully told story of illicit love and divided loyalties, Intermission explores lives within a gated community with just the right touch of irony and compassion.
Disappointed since I thought that it will live upto the standards of Nirupama’s previous book – Keep the change. I was leaving behind the steel and glass structures of Gurgaon, a bristling. Subramanian reveals, “The love-affair leaves Varun shaken and turns Sweety’s cozy little world upside down. The author explains that it was important for her to focus on the setting as people reveal themselves by how they view their surroundings. It is December now and most of us are asking — Where did the year go?
The author has explored various aspects of love in the book – the love of a woman for her old parents, love between a married couple subra,anian on companionship and respect and romantic love. Then Varun meets Sweety, young mother-of-twins, who is living her dream life in a nuclear family, and everything changes.
The narration is slow at times, and quickly moves to a speedy one on the subramaniaan page. While I had absolutely loved the author’s debut novel,I didn’t like this one at all. Intermission He wondered why he, forty-four-year-old successful entrepreneur, faithful husband and competent father of a sixteen-year-old boy, a man with the stolidity of half his life behind him and the certainty of what lay ahead, should wait every morning for a glimpse of this girl, like a teenager subramaniab the first throes of an infatuation.
